More than 200 supporters of the Good Shepherd Food Bank celebrated 30 years of feeding Maine's hungry at the Holiday Inn by the Bay. The JoAnn Pike Humanitarian Award Dinner started with a cocktail party in a section of the ballroom that was lit to look like a night club. When it was time for dinner, the wall partition was opened and we all admired the donated food stacked high on shelves and conveyor belts around the room.

The Maine native and current resident of Austin, Texas entertained an intimate group of St. Lawrence Arts Center supporters with his vocals and acoustic guitar prowess. He sang 10 songs, including "Cry" from his latest album "Everything You Love Will Be Taken Away."

A crowd of more than 200 people gathered in the Holiday Inn by the Bay's ballroom for the 6th annual Heroes with Heart awards dinner. Put on by Community Counseling Center, the event benefits the organization's Trauma Intervention Program, TIP for short, that provides trained volunteers to help people through the most difficult first few hours following unexpected deaths, traumatic injuries, car accidents and fires. The party is held to honor those volunteers along with the police, fire and medical professionals who work closely with the volunteers and victims of trauma.
