With its Campaign for Maine Scholarships, the USM Foundation raised $890,000 to fund yearly grants of either $1,000 or $5,000 given to nine top students from across Maine.

Under a full moon and a cold, cloud-dotted sky, Goodwill's first ever Ghoulwill Ball kicked off the Halloween season by rocking the house at the Eastland Park Hotel on Friday night. The party attracted 200 people decked out in fabulous and creative costumes, many centered around the theme of Horror over Hollywood. All the money raised at the event goes to support Goodwill's job coaching programs for people with disabilities.

Even though high winds forced the earlier cancellation of SailMaine's Leafer's Last Leg Regatta, more than 100 sailors showed up for the annual SailMaine Soiree. The party raised funds for the nonprofit that connects young people and adults with the joys of sailing Casco Bay.

Opportunity Farm Centennial Gala & Auction - Oct. 1, 2010

A crowd of 200 gathered at USM's Abromson Center in Portland to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Opportunity Farm. The gorgeous New Gloucester farm provides a home for kids who can't live with their biological families. Every year the nonprofit organization spends $40,000 for each child living on the farm, and this event raises funds to help cover those costs.
