About 100 guests witnessed the premiere of "The Poet's Love," an exquisite collaboration between the Maine State Ballet and the Florestan Recital Project co-directors Aaron Engebreth, baritone, and Alison d'Amato, pianist. The magical ballet depicts a tragic tale of love and loss, set to Robert Schumann's classic song cycle "Dichterliebe," which translates from the German as "The Poet's Love."

Tastefully Maine: Midsummer Food & Spirits - July 21, 2011

More than 400 guests escaped the swelter affecting much of the state and the nation at the Tastefully Maine party hosted by Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay. The 250 acre property and its exquisite gardens were bathed in a wonderful sea breeze, and the temperature had to be at least 10 degrees cooler than it was in Portland.

Three of the singers participating in this summer's PORTopera Young Artists Program filled the opulent Victoria Mansion with the sounds of their sumptuous voices. The acoustics were fabulous and and the richness of the interior proved well suited to the quality of music. The Opera at the Mansion party was the first collaboration between the two nonprofits and raised funds for both organizations.
