Staff photo by Joe Phelan
Al Hague, left, and Gerry Mahoney unhook The Old Thunder Jug cannon in Hague's garage on Thursday afternoon. They'd moved it from its usual display spot on nearby Powder House to the garage so that it can be pulled in the Old Hallowell Day parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning.
The cannon is from the British ship HMS Boxer following a naval battle with USS Enterprise in the War of 1812. It was bought by Hallowell businessmen in 1839 and has been displayed at various sites over the years.
