Workers put up sign on Turnpike and Nash Box puts up new Monument Square Clock Art
Gordon Chibroski / Staff Photographer: On Thursday, December 13, 2012, Scott Nash and Nancy Gibson Nash, owners of Nash Box Company, put up the 8th art piece on the Monument Square clock, a two-piece hobby horse decorated with flowers and stripes. The changing art pieces are created to call attention to the clock, according to Nash, and part of a fund -raising effort led by Portland Rotary and the Maine College of Art to replace the original clock, The art piece was donated by Kathleen Beecher, who rescued it from her Peaks Island mailbox display and was refurbished by Scott Box for the clock. Each art piece stays up for 2-3 weeks and will be changed out until the money is raised for the refurbished clock face and mechanism, according to Scott Nash.
