After putting his gloves back on Tyler Kalloch claps his hands to keep warm on a very cold morning of Tuesday January 22, 2013 working the full service gas pumps at the J&S Oil Xpress Stop Convenience Store in Farmingdale.
Kalloch said that it helps to dress in several layers and keep moving to stay warm while working outside on cold mornings like that when it was in just the single digits above zero.

SHELTER: Amy Hopkins clutches her dog to her chest Monday January 21, 2013 while waiting the Augusta Community Warming Center. Hopkins, her husband and son were evicted Monday from their room in Augusta, she said, following a dispute with another tenant at a boarding house. We're homeless, she stated. The Hopkins took turns heating up between holding the dog, which she said isn't permitted in the center, as temperatures struggled to reach double digits. The cold is forecast to persist for the remainder of the week.
