Thomas Wood of Portland feeds bread to the gulls and ducks at Mill Creek Park on his lunch break Friday afternoon in South Portland on November 15, 2013. Wood has been feeding the birds daily since he began working in the neighborhood in 1998. Wood has fed some of the great grandparents of the birds he feeds today. Wood has gotten to know the birds well and gives them names including one gull he calls Pincher who will nip at Wood's legs if the gull feels like it is not getting enough food. “You definitely don’t want to bend over when he is hungry,” Wood says.
